Another portrait of the little butterfly girl. This time she's standing next to a storefront window in Little Italy. Although the 50L with its wide aperture can take wonderful captures in lowlight, I like to give it a little helping hand whenever possible. Allowing both existing and ambient lighting to flood the scene will not only paint a more moody photo but will make focusing much easier as well, especially in busy streets filled with passersby where a split second is critical. As with all my shots, I spend very little time prepping the subject or scene. I prefer to work with the spontaneity of the moment so as to allow for a more natural, candid look.
